I feel compelled to give my testimony of what Peterson Physical Therapy Clinic has done for me. I would not be where I am today without them. I had a total knee replacement 10/2020 and after my surgery, I began my physical therapy with a different clinic from 10/2020 until I left in 03/2021 because I was not making much progress. I was already experiencing major pain with my new knee and even though I was in excruciating pain, they would push me to limits beyond my level of pain tolerance. The physical therapist would spend approx. 15 minutes working with me one-on-one and would then pass me off to an intern or tech to complete my exercises for the next 20 minutes and then give me ice for another 10 minutes and then send me on my way. I had to take pain pills before my appointments in order to tolerate the physical therapy because of the pain they inflicted on me and when I cried in agony, they would say to me that I was not trying hard enough. Five months after my knee replacement a lot of therapy at a different clinic and I was still having to use a walker to get around. I was informed that they did not feel they could do much more to assist with increasing my range of motion (‘ROM’) and that I would probably have to live with the ROM at that time which was about 75 to 80 degrees. This is when I decided I would seek treatment elsewhere. My new physician referred me to Peterson Physical Therapy. I have now been with Peterson for approximately 2 months and I am now able to walk without a walker or a cane and my ROM is currently at 106 degrees and increasing. They are awesome. Their Physical Therapists work with you one-on-one for the entire hour. They do not push you beyond your limits and are genuinely concerned with your progress. I am so happy that I was referred to Peterson Physical Therapy. I feel they gave me my life back. I thank them profusely every time I am there. Their entire group of staff are warm, caring, and professional. They are a “cut above” when it comes to top-notch Physical Therapy. I really feel it would be difficult to find a Physical Therapy Clinic that would work harder for you than Peterson Physical Therapy. Again, I say “Thank you Peterson Physical Therapy!” -Kathy B

“Peterson Physical Therapy is a great place if you are in pain, had an accident etc. I drive from Ft Washington, MD which takes 45 minutes to an hour for their good service and great trained staff. Go in with pains and come out feeling good! I had hip replacement surgery in January of 202. With their help, I am now walking on my own and without pain. They have very good staff and are very interested in getting you back to health so you can enjoy life again. They are the BEST. If there was a grade I could give it would be an A+!” -Gertrude McKoy

“Susan and Chris have so much knowledge about how the body works as a system and with the consistency of care I received I have already recommended them to friends and family. If you have tried PT before without good results, it might have been the therapist and not the PT.” -Jerry Reynolds

“I was immediately impressed with their energy, knowledge and treatment. After my first visit I told my wife I was extremely impressed. I have to add, I don’t impress easy. They took my treatment to a higher level. They pushed the treatment but always asked about pain to make sure I was comfortable.“ – Tom

“3 months after losing partial use of right arm due to a fall, which included massive pain, I can give Chris all the credit for regaining use of my arm, and for reducing pain to minimum.” -Patty Bowling

“I was honestly a life-long skeptic of physical therapy. My thinking was that all they are going to do is tell me to stretch and I already know how to do that. A few years ago, however, I injured myself while training for a marathon and when I found that I could not run long distances any longer I got desperate and my wife sent me to the Peterson’s. Within 2-3 weeks of going to them once a week I was back to 10+ mile runs. I was fully cured in about 6 weeks and wound up having one of the best races of my life. I cannot recommend them enough, especially for any sports related injuries.” – Jason Faherty

”I can’t say enough good things about Chris and Susan. I came to them with a two year history of Bursitis and Tendonitis threatening to ruin a Disney Vacation. The variety of therapy Chris gave me has made it possible to no longer walk with pain and to start returning to normal life. Best part, I’ve walked well over 40 miles at Disney World with ZERO pain. They are very nice and easy to work with as well as providing effective therapy. I can’t thank them enough.” -Barclay McCauley

In February 2020 I was diagnosed with a complex tear in my right shoulder. I had never been to physical therapy before and thought how is that going to mend the complex tear. At the time I could not sleep because of the pain, lay on my right shoulder or roll out of bed on the right shoulder. My right shoulder was almost frozen. I had a hard time dressing myself, taking my right hand straight up or behind my back. My husband and I have a farm. I was unable to stack hay, clean stalls, groom horses with my right hand from the ground or saddle a horse. It was a challenge getting on/off the horse and I could only hold the reins in my left hand while riding. I have made significant improvement without surgery. I can do everything now except stack hay and reach the center of my back. Susan Peterson, DPT has done a phenomenal job getting my shoulder unfrozen through manipulation and exercises. She has focused on getting me to use the right shoulder and arm correctly. It is a one-on-one experience with the physical therapist during the sessions. I leave the session feeling better than when I walked in and look forward to the next session. The staff are extremely personable, knowledgeable and fun. I highly recommend Peterson’s Physical Therapy in La Plata, MD.

“My 12 year old daughter has been a patient with Susan for rehab following elbow surgery. There is no one I trust more than Susan and Chris to work on my children! It’s hard to find a PT that can communicate effectively to pre-teens, but Susan has been a god-send to my daughter. My daughter felt like Susan truly cared about her and listened to her concerns. When my daughter was tired, Susan motivated her to want to get better. The other great thing about Peterson PT is you only see physical therapists! There’s no middle man. You spend your time with Susan or Chris and you have their undivided attention. Ask yourself if you can find that anywhere else? I doubt it. I wish all medical providers were like them!” -Megan Donnick

“My 14 year old has been diagnosed with Chondromalcia Patella, she has been going to Peterson Physical Therapy since the beginning of November. The care that my daughter has received thus far has been exceptional. One on one and geared to her total body to aid and prevent further knee issue, not just focusing on the knee but strengthening her core and surrounding muscles. Teaching her proper form to prevent further injury. When my daughter went to her follow up orthopedic appointment her doctor was ecstatic about her improvement. The Peterson’s are friendly and professional I highly recommend their practice for your physical therapy needs!!! -Christina Calacan

“I can’t recommend the Peterson Physical Therapy highly enough! After about month or two of worsening pain and loss of mobility in my left hip (it had gotten so bad that simply sitting for long periods of time was unbearable), I finally saw an orthopedist and was diagnosed with a labral tear and femoroacetabular impingement. Certain that surgery would be the only way to alleviate my symptoms, I was pretty skeptical when my physician suggested physical therapy as a first course of treatment, but I was determined to return to sport as quickly and fully as possible. The insidious onset of my injury made it difficult to determine an exact cause, but Susan brought so much creativity and expertise to my situation. Each meeting offered a new insight and strategy, and I was so pleased with how personalized my care was. After two months of regular one-on-one sessions, I was moving pain free again, and had gained so much insight about how to maintain the progress I’d made during treatment and prevent future injury. For me, movement is medicine: being able to regularly exercise, at a fairly high level of intensity, is extremely important to me both mentally and physically, and I’m so happy to say that since my treatment I’ve been able to do just that! Susan truly cares a great deal about her work and has a genuine interest in helping people improve their quality of life and get back to doing the things that they loved pre-injury. Thanks a million for all that you’ve done to get this runner/CrossFitter back on track and for teaching me how to – I could not be more grateful.” -April Crowley

Peterson Physical Therapy was recommended to me through a co-worker for exceptional care. It was a pleasure to work with all of the staff at Peterson. Care and feedback was provided on a regular basis and I looked forward to each visit. I required a two-level cervical spinal fusion from a fully herniated and degenerative disc. As a very physically active person I wanted to ensure that my post-surgery PT was effective for recovery. The staff at Peterson listened to my post-surgery goals and provided a protocol of treatment that exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Peterson Physical Therapy without hesitation. – Jeff Mathews
“When it became apparent that I had exhausted all the alternatives to knee replacement surgery, I decided to seek PT prior to surgery to enhance my recovery. I chose to visit Peterson Physical Therapy for an assessment about 4-6 weeks prior to surgery. Chris and Susan Peterson put me on a regime three days a week with “at-home” follow-up exercises that helped to alleviate my physical and emotional concerns about the upcoming surgery. I began to learn about how the physiology of my knee would be effected by surgery and how post-surgery therapy would address recovery. I had surgery on a Thursday and was at PT with the Peterson’s on Monday. They create an atmosphere that continually assesses your physical and emotional status in a positive, upbeat climate. Their knowledge coupled with their ability and personal concern to relate to diverse client/patient needs is a hallmark of the practice. As a result of the pre and post-surgery PT care plan, I was able to begin to return to my normal activities sooner than my doctor expected.” -Barbara Graves
